1/2 tsp cinnamon
2-3 Tbs. raw sunflower seeds
2-4 pitted dates
1/2-1 cups filtered water
2-3 cored apples ( red, yellow or green)
2-3 romaine lettuce leaves
1 stalk celery (optional)
Add the first four ingredients into a Vita-Mix and go from a slow to super fast blend until pureed. Then add the last 2 items and puree some more until done. Avoid ice so it will more easily remind you of a spiced apple desert. This makes the equivalent of 1-2 slices.

Add the first five ingredients into a blender or Vita-Mix and puree on low
speed first then high speed. Then add the last three items and blend again until it is thick and creamy. Yes it will be slightly green from the chlorophyll in the lettuce. This is the magical source for converting sunlight into plant energy all over the world. That is what will make it a great healthy and energizing treat versus a fattening desert. The cranberry taste and color overrides the green veggies for those of you that are new to this concept of nutritionally balanced Energy Elixirs. Additionally this is great recipe for increasing your energy level in the morning to give you the extra boost you may be looking for.
Take any extra left over with you in a wide mouth plastic container as a mid-morning snack. This is a great strategy to pre-empt any temptation to eat unhealthy junk food snacks that you know can upset your vibrant health and nutrition plan.

Puree the first three ingredients in a Vita-Mix or super blender. Then add
the peeled oranges and cucumber and puree. The result will be a very
delicious fresh orange juice deluxe elixir. What a great way to celebrate
the new year and enjoy the vibrant energy that results from sunshine and is stored in oranges.

6-8 raw blanched almonds
3-4 Tbsp. raw sunflower seeds or flax seeds

1-2 square inches fresh coconut

Add the first 3 ingredients to a super blender and mix. Then add the
additional items and blend until a puree. It usually takes even a strong
blender a while for the coconut so be advised. Additional flavors can be
added to enhance the taste such as carob powder, fresh pineapple, mint, cardamom, maple syrup, honey, etc.. Try a little experimentation and make adjustments to modify the taste to suit your taste buds, as well as provide variety.
FYI Optional super Energizing Elixir ingredient for those that need an extra energy boost. 1/4-1/2 tsp. super greens powder, 2-3 leaves of lettuce and/or 2-3 inches cucumber. Yes, it will make it a beautiful shade of green. Just be aware this green comes from the same green chlorophyl which results in the magical process we call photosynthesis. Chlorophyl is the necessary ingredient which converts sunlight into living plants and is therefore the primary source from which all nutrition is derived. Use organic sources whenever possible and be sure to wash all fruits and vegetables well.

Carefully peel just the rind from the grapefruit and orange leaving as much pith as possible. Puree the first 3 ingredients in a power blender. Then add the grapefruit and orange sections and blend. Finally add the remaining items and blend again until smooth. Eat with a spoon or drink depending on the consistency.

2-3 kiwi (with skin on you get extra Vitamin. C and fiber)

While most people are familiar with fruit smoothies… my elixir recipes are somewhat unique. To me this is classified as an Energy Elixir due to the fact it has all fresh fruits, green vegetables and raw nuts and seeds. I have found it to be a better tasting and energizing combination of fruits, vegetables, proteins and essential fatty acids. Logic and all my experience indicates that my unique approach of only using fresh and whole foods creates the best tasting, energizing and nutritious combination for you.

Q: These Elixirs are thick and fibrous. Is that how they should be?
A: That depends on many factors such as the type of blender, amount of water, type and size of fruit/veggies you use. The most important consideration is how would you like them to best suit your particular style. Some like to drink them through a straw and others like to use a spoon and savor them.
For a finer texture it is best to add a little more water as well as have a
super blender that has the power to really puree the ingredients. The key
distinction that sets my GreatNEWSCoach Elixirs apart from regular smoothies is that it is loaded with fiber and pulp that is very beneficial towards vibrant health.
It is important whichever way you prefer them that you take the time to chew your elixir as you consume it. This is very important to slow down your consumption rate and also to properly stimulate the digestive glands, enzymes and digestion process to get maximum assimilation of the nutrients.
Q: Many people ask me: What is the main differences between the smoothies they
see and hear about and my recommended GreatNEWSCoach Elixirs.
A: Most smoothies call for milk, yogurt, soy milk, rice milk, tofu, soy
protein juices or other similar processed/pasteurized foods. My Elixir
recipes call for only natural, unprocessed/unpasteurized whole foods as
ingredients. Whole fruits and vegetables are naturally fresher, richer in
fiber and other valuable nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals for the
money. Ideally use organic produce whenever possible. What really sets my
Elixirs apart from smoothies is the unique approach and combination of plant
based protein, fats and carbohydrates that provide the essential nutrients
the body requires for optimal health and energy. Leading research and
medical authorities have shown the tremendous value in this type of approach
to provide excellent nutrition while improving the bodies ideal state of
wellness.
Q: What is the best type of coconut to use and how do I get one open?
A: Find a fresh green (Thai) or brown coconut at your market. With a brown
coconut use a clean flat head screwdriver or strong narrow knife to carefully push through one of the three eye spots. One of them is usually much softer than the other two. This will allow you to drain the coconut milk which can also be added to the Energy Elixir or consumed separately as a treat. After draining all the liquid I like to find a concrete porch and repeatedly drop the coconut from about two feet high. This will help loosen the coconut meat from the brown shell. Eventually the coconut shell will break and then be easier to remove. Using a strong knife or the screwdriver carefully remove all meat from the shell and cut into 1 inch pieces. Make sure the coconut tastes and smells fresh and does not have any off color spots on the white side or brown side of it. Old or cracked shells can allow the coconut inside to have bad spots and spoil just like any food item. Put some of the remaining coconut meat in the refrigerator for your next 2-3 days Energy Elixir usage and the rest should be frozen. Green coconuts are a little more involved but well worth the effort. I find it best to buy the "Thai" coconuts that have been trimmed into a hut shape with a flat bottom. Carefully place the coconut on a large non slip cutting board and chop into the top point from above with a large clever or butcher knife creating a quarter size triangle or square shaped hole at the top. Drain the coconut milk for the Elixir or a treat to drink separately. Then chop the husk in half to open up the rest and use a metal spoon for the coconut treat to be spooned out. Enjoy fresh coconut or this Energy Elixir any time you want an exotic flavor treat.
The GreatNEWSCoach also recommends a (Pina-Colada) Energy Elixir for a summer treat to beat the heat. Use the same recipe as above except use fresh pineapple with the coconut and leave out the cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and half the water.
Another GreatNEWSCoach variation is a banana date Energy Elixir which uses all of the original recipe except the nutmeg and only 1 cup of water plus extra banana.
